Ukrainian Speaker: Ukrainian expert group will start working with the United States next week to reach a mineral agreement

On February 23, local time, on February 22, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine, Stefan Chukchi, stated in an interview with a Japanese media outlet that after Ukrainian President Zelensky’s meeting with the US government’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, a group of experts from the Ukrainian government will be launched next week to work towards reaching a mineral agreement with the United States. Stefan Chuk stated that Ukraine is willing to cooperate with partners on mineral resources, but hopes to obtain specific security guarantees. In addition, regarding US President Trump’s statement that Ukraine needs to hold presidential elections, Stefanachuk pointed out that Ukrainian law clearly stipulates that elections cannot be held during wartime, and fair elections cannot be held in such a state because the military will not be able to participate.
