On February 22, the Israeli Defense Forces issued a statement stating that the Red Cross has informed the military that three released Israeli detainees are currently being taken to the Israeli Defense Forces in Gaza and will be escorted out of the Gaza Strip by the Israeli military. Prior to this, two Israeli detainees had already been released and sent out of the Gaza Strip on that day. Subsequently, the Israel Defense Forces issued a statement stating that the three released detainees had been transferred to the Israel Defense Forces within Gaza.
