Entrepreneurs from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade launch their first overseas tour during the Chinese New Year, achieving new results in promoting oil and gas energy cooperation between China and Kazakhstan

Beijing, February 13th (Xinhua) – From February 10th to 13th, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade organized the “New Year’s Overseas Tour” of Chinese entrepreneurs to Kazakhstan, promoting economic and trade negotiations and signing cooperation documents between the two countries’ enterprises. Among them, Chinese and Kazakh enterprises have achieved new results in cooperation in the field of oil and gas energy.

In Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, the delegation had in-depth exchanges with the Samruk Kasenna National Fund and the Atameken National Entrepreneurs Association, and held the China Kazakhstan Entrepreneurs Economic and Trade Fair, signing 8 cooperation agreements covering multiple fields such as oil and gas energy, agricultural cooperation, and international logistics.

In Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, the delegation exchanged views with the Central Credit Bank of Kazakhstan on playing a role in financial services to facilitate smooth cooperation between enterprises of the two countries.

During the 4-day visit and exchange, both companies signed multiple cooperation agreements in the field of oil and gas energy. China Petroleum International Co., Ltd. and Kazakhstan National Natural Gas Corporation signed a supplementary agreement to the natural gas purchase and sale contract in Astana. The contracted gas volume for the 2024-2025 gas supply year will increase by one-third compared to the main contract. Sinochem International Petroleum (London) Limited and Tengizchevron Limited have signed a CPC crude oil supply agreement, involving a total amount of 250 million US dollars. China Petroleum International Co., Ltd. also signed a crude oil spot purchase and sale contract with Tengizchevron Co., Ltd., further expanding cooperation in the oil and gas energy field between China and Kazakhstan.

During the visit, Ren Hongbin, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, focused on the situation of China’s high-quality development in promoting Chinese path to modernization and its adherence to high-level opening up to the outside world. He suggested that Kazakhstan hold the second China Central Asia Summit this year, and China hosted the 25th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of SCO Member States in China as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the two sides and hold well the meetings of the China Central Asia Industrialists Committee, the SCO Business Forum, the eighth meeting of the China Kazakhstan Entrepreneurs Committee and other activities. At the same time, we invite Kazakhstan to actively participate in the 3rd China International Supply Chain Promotion Expo and deepen cooperation in the industrial and supply chains of both sides.
