On February 13, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau, who was on a visit to Europe, visited Brussels on the 12th local time and held meetings with NATO Secretary General Mark Lute, President of the European Commission von der Leyen and President of the European Council Costa. Trudeau stated in Brussels that he currently has no plans to meet with US President Trump. Trudeau stated that although he and Trump have had multiple different conversations in the past few months and his administration will continue to engage with the US government at all levels, he personally has no plans to travel to Washington. It is reported that Canada is committed to deepening its trade and defense relations with Europe. The trade relationship between Canada and Europe has been developing over the years, and this cooperation may deepen as European leaders join Canada in resisting US President Trump’s “destructive” tariffs and territorial expansion threats.
