On February 9th, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement strongly condemning Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s statement that “a Palestinian state can be established on Saudi Arabian territory”. The statement stated that Netanyahu’s remarks blatantly violate international law and the United Nations Charter. Qatar fully supports Saudi Arabia and calls on the international community to firmly resist Israel’s provocative actions. The statement reiterated Qatar’s firm opposition to proposals that force the displacement of the Palestinian people, stating that such proposals will hinder regional peace and once again provoke confrontation. The statement emphasizes that a just and lasting peace cannot be achieved unless the Palestinian people are able to exercise sovereignty over their land. Qatar reiterated its firm position on the Palestinian issue in the statement, supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
