On February 9th, a landslide occurred in Group 2, Jinping Village, Muai Town, Junlian County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province on February 8th. Today (9th), Yibin City, Sichuan Province held a press conference to introduce the latest progress of rescue efforts. At the meeting, it was reported that as of 24:00 on the 8th, 10 residential houses and 1 production house have been verified to be buried. Two injured people have been successfully rescued, including one seriously injured and one lightly injured. They have been admitted to the People’s Hospital of Yunlian County and are all in no life-threatening condition. After preliminary investigation, the disaster caused 29 people to go missing, and the final number is still being further verified. Preliminary assessment shows that the recent continuous rainfall and geological conditions have caused high-level landslides to transform into debris flows, forming a debris accumulation body approximately 1.2 kilometers long. The landslide body is about 10 to 20 meters thick and 100 meters wide, with a landslide volume of over 100000 cubic meters. At present, the landslide is still ongoing. (CCTV News)
