On February 9th, local time, multiple sources stated that despite US Secretary of State Rubio’s claim that the United States will continue to provide humanitarian aid, US funded aid efforts have essentially come to a halt globally. Previously, Rubio issued an exemption letter stating that humanitarian aid aimed at saving lives will continue during the US government’s 90 day suspension of foreign aid review. However, multiple interviewed staff members and contractors from the US Agency for International Development stated that this does not reflect the local situation, as almost all of the agency’s humanitarian aid projects are stalled.
