On February 8th, US President Trump issued an executive order stating that the United States will cease providing any aid or support to South Africa and will promote the resettlement of refugees who have fled South Africa due to government led racial discrimination. The order states that all US government departments and agencies (including the US Agency for International Development) should immediately cease providing any form of foreign aid or support to South Africa to the maximum extent permitted by law. Heads of government agencies may, at their discretion, allow necessary or appropriate assistance to be provided.
