The Confucius Institute at Tashkent State Oriental University has gone through more than 20 years of history, injecting a continuous stream of vitality and energy into the friendship between the two countries. Gao Hongzhen, the Chinese dean of the Confucius Institute, said that the institute has always adhered to language teaching as the foundation and cultural dissemination as its mission. The curriculum of the college covers multiple levels from children to adults, including both basic Chinese language learning and cultural courses with Chinese characteristics such as calligraphy and Chinese dance.
Yibodova, a student at the Confucius Institute, is 13 years old and her Chinese name is Lina. She started learning Chinese at the age of 7. At first, she was a bit reserved in class, but with the patient encouragement of her teachers and parents, she gradually began to express herself actively and actively participated in activities such as poetry recitation and calligraphy competitions. During the learning process, Lina gained a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. I am very fascinated by Chinese customs and traditions. Chinese New Year is a very interesting festival. This year is the Year of the Snake, which represents luck, wisdom, and knowledge. Now, she has also developed a dream of studying abroad in China, hoping to one day visit China and use her own efforts and enthusiasm to achieve more dreams.
Chinese teacher Wang Liyuan will come to the college in 2023 and start teaching locally. From being unfamiliar at the beginning to gradually integrating into students’ daily lives, she spread Chinese culture in the classroom, built a bridge of cultural exchange between China and Ukraine with enthusiasm, and deeply experienced the strong interest of local students in Chinese language and culture. Another teacher, Zhu Zhuxin, stimulates students’ interest by designing rich course content. Her children’s class is filled with games and interactions, while her adult class focuses on cultivating practical language skills. In addition to classroom teaching, Zhu Zhuxin is also committed to promoting tea culture. She transformed the traditional presentation and explanation in the classroom into an interactive experience, leading students to brew tea and tea, and using practice to let more locals feel the profound connotation of Chinese culture. Hojayeva is an adult Chinese learner at the Confucius Institute. She said that the many excellent Chinese teachers she met inspired her love for the Chinese language and culture. Each teacher uses unique teaching methods and sincere care to help her continuously improve on the path of Chinese learning. Despite being busy with work every day, she consistently attends classes, actively participates in cultural activities, and maintains a high level of enthusiasm for learning Chinese. Hojayeva stated that studying at the Confucius Institute not only allowed her to appreciate the beauty of Chinese characters and the depth of culture, but also made her realize that language is a bridge connecting different cultures.
The Confucius Institute will add four smart classrooms in 2024, marking the comprehensive launch of digital teaching. Innovative methods such as virtual reality technology and artificial intelligence assistance provide students with immersive learning experiences, making language learning more vivid and interesting.
