Turkish and Syrian Presidents Hold Joint Press Conference, Emphasizing Deepening Security Cooperation and Assisting Syria’s Reconstruction

On February 5, President Erdogan of Türkiye held a joint press conference with the visiting Syrian Transitional President Ahmed Sala in Ankara, the capital, on February 4 local time. During the talks, the two sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations, security cooperation, Syrian reconstruction and other topics, and said that the talks were a “historic visit”, marking a new stage of long-term friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Erdogan stressed in his speech that Türkiye has always insisted on safeguarding the territorial integrity and unity of Syria, which is Türkiye’s basic policy towards neighboring Syria. He said that during the talks, the two sides discussed joint measures to strengthen cooperation in security and economic stability. Türkiye will assist Syria in rebuilding war damaged cities.
