The US Department of Defense announces a 10 day suspension of almost all official social media activities

On January 25th, the US Department of Defense issued social media guidelines for the military, announcing a 10 day suspension of almost all official social media activities. It is reported that the suspension will take effect on the 25th and apply to “all levels of official accounts” of the Ministry of National Defense. However, content related to southern border operations, as well as routine base operations and activities (such as Ministry of Defense school activities, base situations and services, recruitment related activities), are not subject to this restriction. The specific reason for the suspension is currently unclear.
