On January 25th, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban stated on the 24th local time that Ukraine must ensure energy security for Central European countries, including Hungary, otherwise Hungary will prevent the extension of sanctions against Russia. According to relevant arrangements, the extension of EU sanctions against Russia requires unanimous agreement from 27 member states and the relevant procedures must be completed by the end of January. Orban stated that sanctions have not weakened Russia, but have plunged Europe into an economic crisis.
