On January 25th, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban stated on the 24th local time that energy security is crucial for Central European countries, including Hungary. Hungary hopes that the EU can persuade Ukraine to resume natural gas transportation from Russia to Europe. Orban said that for Hungary and Slovakia, Hungary was lucky to participate in the construction of the “Türkiye Stream”. Therefore, when Ukraine “closed the gate”, although Hungary suffered higher natural gas prices, it could still obtain natural gas. In the future, Hungary providing natural gas to Slovakia can improve the country’s natural gas supply situation. Orban said that Hungary hopes the EU can persuade Ukraine to resume natural gas transportation from Russia to Europe.
