On January 25th, according to data from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), speculators’ net long positions in Brent and WTI crude oil increased by 27569 contracts to 492299 contracts, reaching a nine month high during the week of January 21st. During the week of January 21st, speculators’ net long position in COMEX gold increased by 21864 contracts to 234358 contracts, reaching a 12 week high.
