On January 4th, according to the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, the Israeli government may send a message to the United States that the Israeli Defense Forces will continue to stay in southern Lebanon after the 60 day ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel ends. The reason is that the Lebanese army failed to fulfill the ceasefire terms, deployed its forces too slowly in southern Lebanon, and failed to strike the military targets of Hezbollah militants, resulting in Hezbollah regrouping in the area.
