On January 5th, local time, the Israel Defense Forces issued a statement stating that earlier in the day, a rocket launched from northern Gaza caused damage to the Erez port. This port is the entrance for providing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The Israeli Defense Forces claimed that rocket attacks caused damage to the border crossing and nearby areas. The Israeli military also stated that since early December 2024, over 1200 aid trucks have entered Gaza through the Erez checkpoint, transporting food, water, medical equipment, and shelter devices.
