On January 2nd, Yonhap News Agency reported on January 1st that the identities of all 179 victims of the Jeju Air crash that occurred on December 29, 2024, have been confirmed, citing the South Korean Central Disaster Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as the “Headquarters”). According to the report on the plane crash released by our department on the 1st, as of 6:00 am that day, the identities of all 179 victims have been confirmed. The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism announced on the same day that the black box data used to record cockpit voice from the two black boxes of the Jeju Air crash plane has been extracted and will be restored to sound state for analysis.
