On January 1st, the Indian Meteorological Department announced that 2024 has become the hottest year in India since 1901. The head of the Indian Meteorological Department stated that the average annual surface temperature in India in 2024 is 0.65 degrees Celsius higher than the average level between 1991 and 2020.
