On December 29th, Azerbaijani President Aliyev stated in an interview with Azerbaijani television that in response to the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash, Azerbaijan has demanded that Russia “admit fault, punish those responsible, and pay compensation”. He emphasized that Azerbaijan’s first demand has been met. Earlier, Aliyev stated that the cause of the Aktau air disaster was that the plane was “damaged due to an attack from the ground.” The final investigation results require analysis of the black box, but the preliminary investigation results are based on facts and have sufficient evidence. On the 28th local time, Russian President Putin and Azerbaijani President Aliyev had a phone call regarding the AirAsia crash. Putin apologizes for the physical and technological interference that caused the crash of the passenger plane operated by AirAsia on the Baku Grozny route into Russian airspace, and once again expresses deep and sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
