On December 29th, Ahmed Shara, the leader of Syria’s Sham Liberation Organization, stated that preparing and writing a new constitution in the country may take about three years, and organizing elections may also take four years. He also believes that the country is currently in the stage of rebuilding its laws, emphasizing that the national dialogue conference will include all sectors of society. He said that the dissolution of various factions, including the Sham Liberation Organization, will definitely be announced at the National Dialogue Conference. He also stated that the transitional government is negotiating with the Kurdish armed group, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), to resolve the crisis in northeastern Syria. He emphasized that Kurds are an integral part of Syria and the country will not be divided. In addition, he expressed his hope that the new US government led by Trump would lift sanctions against the country. He believes that Saudi Arabia’s recent statements are very positive and emphasizes that Saudi Arabia seeks stability in Syria.
