On December 30th, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs Safadi had a phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov on December 29th local time, and the two sides discussed the development of the situation in Syria and Palestine Israel. Safadi emphasized that Jordan firmly supports the Syrian people in rebuilding their country through a comprehensive political process led by Syrians, and forming a new system that can safeguard the rights of all Syrians, maintain Syrian unity, solidarity, sovereignty, security, and stability. At the same time, Safadi warned of the consequences of Israel’s continued aggression against Gaza and emphasized the need for an immediate and lasting ceasefire agreement, opening all channels to provide timely and adequate humanitarian aid to various areas of the Gaza Strip. Safadi and Lavrov reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordinating on regional issues to promote regional security and stability, and achieve a fair peace.
