China has successfully obtained nickel-64 isotopes for the first time and achieved localization of copper-64

On December 28th, the Institute of Physical and Chemical Engineering of the Nuclear Industry, affiliated with China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), has for the first time prepared nickel-64 isotopes with a gram level abundance exceeding 99% through years of intelligent research, marking China’s world leading level in the field of new stable isotope research. At present, only a very small number of countries have mastered this technology, so the price of nickel-64 is very expensive, about hundreds of times that of gold of the same weight.
