The “Chinese Film Night” Film Exhibition opens in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, December 28 (Xinhua) — The “Chinese Film Night” film exhibition, hosted by the National Film Administration of China and the Consulate General of China in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and organized by the China Film Archive, opened on the 27th at the VOX cinema in the Red Sea Shopping Center in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. More than a hundred guests from the political, film, business, and academic circles of China and Saudi Arabia attended the opening ceremony.

In his opening speech, Chinese Consul General in Jeddah, Wang Qimin, stated that in recent years, the exchange of films between China and Saudi Arabia has continued to heat up. Many Chinese films have been selected for the competition section of the Saudi Red Sea International Film Festival and won awards. The Saudi Arabian Film Exhibition was successfully held in China for the first time this year. We hope to further promote film exchanges and cooperation between the two countries through this event, and jointly write a new chapter of friendship between China and Saudi Arabia.

Ahmed Mullah, Chairman of the Saudi National Film Festival, said in his speech that film is an important form of cultural exchange that can overcome language and cultural barriers and promote spiritual connection between people from different countries. This event not only brought a rich and colorful visual feast and unique cultural experience to Saudi audiences, but also provided a platform for Saudi Chinese film exchange and cooperation.

The “Chinese Film Night” film exhibition was warmly welcomed by local residents and overseas Chinese. On the first day, two films, “Fengshen Part 1: Chaoge Fengyun” and “Hot and Spicy”, were screened. It is reported that after the release of the screening information, a total of about 1000 movie tickets for the six films screened this time were fully booked within half a day.

Mira, a Chinese language student at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia, expressed after watching the movie that she was fortunate to have booked an appointment to watch “Fengshen Part 1: Song of the Dynasty”. After watching it, she felt the charm of Chinese Shang and Zhou culture and classical mythology. After watching the movie, overseas Chinese in Saudi Arabia also expressed that they were deeply moved to see Chinese movies in foreign cinemas.

This event will last for 3 days and will also showcase multiple Chinese films such as “Decryption,” “Let’s Shake the Sun Together,” “Safe Evacuation from the 21st Century,” and “Life Events.
