The Colombian coffee industry has experienced a comprehensive recovery, with significant increases in both production and exports

On December 23rd, due to the impact of La Ni ñ a climate, coffee beans in Colombia have been continuously reduced in production for the past three years. This year, with ample sunshine, Colombia’s coffee industry has experienced a comprehensive recovery, with both production and export volumes increasing. Esteban Aldones, Commercial Director of the Colombian Coffee Federation: Colombia’s coffee bean production has recovered this year, and we just harvested 13.4 million bags of coffee beans. The production in the 12 months of this year increased by 21% year-on-year. Affected by climate change and drought, the production of coffee beans in Brazil, the largest producer, and Vietnam, the second largest producer, has significantly decreased this year, driving global coffee bean prices to the highest level in nearly 50 years. This has also led to a significant increase in the export value of Colombian coffee beans. However, industry insiders point out that although Colombia has achieved dual growth in coffee bean production and supply, it is not enough to make up for the gap caused by the reduction in production in Brazil and Vietnam. It is expected that the price of coffee beans in the international market will remain high next year.
