The story of China and Peru jointly building the “the Belt and Road”

In 2017, affected by the El Nino phenomenon, 11 provinces in Peru were hit by rainstorm, and mountain torrents broke out in many places, resulting in mudslides. Chipen City in La Libertad Province is one of the hardest hit areas.

To help the children affected by the disaster return to school as soon as possible, the local government conducted a reconstruction assessment of the affected schools and launched an open bidding process. Chinese companies have successfully won bids for some reconstruction projects, responsible for the demolition of old sites, design and construction of new school buildings, landscape beautification, and supply and installation of teaching facilities for four schools.

In less than a year, the first school in the reconstruction project, No. 1639 Kindergarten in Chipeng City, was successfully completed and delivered. After reconstruction, the kindergarten has been revitalized with stable power supply. Each classroom is equipped with brand new desks and chairs, good ventilation and lighting equipment, and multimedia devices such as televisions and speakers have been installed, creating a modern learning environment for children.

At the beginning of the school year, with the joy of returning to campus and the longing for a better future, the children released balloons in front of the new teaching building. Student Amile Espinosa said, “Thank you to my uncles and aunts in China for everything they have done for us. I will always remember them.” (Reporter: Jiang Xue, Wang Zhongyi; Hand drawn: Jiang Xue)
