The story of China and Peru jointly building the “the Belt and Road”

At the 7th China International Import Expo, the alpaca plush toy made by Peruvian Oswaldo Mamani was once again displayed on the booth. From a small shop in Arequipa, a highland city in southern Peru, to a 9-square meter booth at the first CIIE, and now to a large booth, Mamani’s alpaca plush toys have successfully become popular in the Chinese market, and Mamani has fulfilled one dream after another because of China.

In 2016, Chinese customer Ma Yuxia accidentally walked into his small shop and was attracted by two alpaca plush toys. She recognized the potential of these dolls in the Chinese market and decided to collaborate with Mamani to introduce alpaca wool products into the Chinese market.

In 2018, Mamani’s alpaca plush toy made its debut at the China International Import Expo, but unexpectedly received a large order at a small booth. The rapid popularity of his own alpaca doll in China has filled him with unlimited expectations for the Chinese market and opened up his unbreakable bond with China.

After consecutive participation in the CIIE, Ma Yuxia founded the brand “Warm Camel”, and Mamani led the whole village to join the big family of “Warm Camel”. At the 7th China International Import Expo held this year, alpaca fur toys made their first “ride” across the sea in a container to China. Ma Yuxia said, “In the past, air freight was used for small quantities, but now for large quantities, sea freight is used. With more quantities, it indicates that the demand in the Chinese market is greater

In addition to the CIIE, Mamani’s alpaca plush toys are also star products on Chinese e-commerce platforms. The hot sales of alpaca plush toys in China not only allowed the Mamani family to move into a new house and drive a new car, but also expanded the handmade workshop that was originally only one floor to three floors. Mamani thus began to have bigger plans: “We have purchased more alpaca wool raw materials and more advanced production machines for the workshop. We also plan to continuously launch new products in panda, sheep, mammoth and other shapes,” Mamani said. (Reporter: Jiang Xue, Xi Yue; Hand drawn: Jiang Xue)
