Male, October 17 (Xinhua) — The launch ceremony of the reconstruction project of the taxiway at Vilana International Airport in Maldives was recently held in Male, the capital of Maldives.
Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Wang Lixin and Maldives Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Said attended the ceremony.
Beijing Urban Construction Group is the contractor for the reconstruction project of the taxiway at Villana International Airport. The project will renovate the aging old runway, effectively shorten the waiting time for aircraft takeoff and landing, improve the overall operational efficiency of the airport, reduce safety risks, and provide passengers with a better travel experience.
Wang Lixin delivered a speech at the ceremony. She stated that tourism is the pillar industry of Maldives. As a national gateway, the development of Vilana International Airport is crucial for sustainable economic growth. This runway reconstruction project is an important measure for the airport to enhance its operational capacity. China will continue to maintain close cooperation with Maldives and contribute to its long-term prosperity and development.
Ibrahim Sharif, General Manager of Maldives Airport Company, stated that the runway reconstruction project is crucial for the future development of the airport and is a key measure to improve operational efficiency and ensure safety. He also highly recognized the professional ability and cooperation performance of Beijing Urban Construction.
Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Maldives, Said, also emphasized the important role of airports in the national economy, affirmed the contribution of Beijing Urban Construction’s previous projects, and believed that the implementation of the taxiway reconstruction project would further improve the operational efficiency of airports and provide strong support for Maldives’ future economic growth.
Luo Wei, General Manager of the International Business Department of Beijing Urban Construction Group, stated that Beijing Urban Construction and Airport Company have not only witnessed the successful implementation of multiple major projects together, but their teams have also formed a deep friendship.
