China invested in the construction of Botswana’s largest photovoltaic power station

Xinhua News Agency, Gaborone, August 13 (Reporter Teng Junwei) Botswana Electric Power Company signed a power supply procurement agreement with Zhongbo Green Energy Co., Ltd. on August 12, officially launching the construction of Botswana Juwaneng 100 MW photovoltaic power plant project.

President Masisi of Botswana said at the signing ceremony on the same day that the project is a key project for Botswana to achieve energy transformation, “in line with Botswana’s energy policy objectives, that is, to provide affordable, reliable and adequate energy supply for sustainable development”.

The project is the largest photovoltaic power station project in Botswana, which is invested and operated by Zhongbo Green Energy Co., Ltd. The power supply purchase agreement lasts for 25 years.

Bai Yinzhan, chairman of China Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., the holding company of Zhongbo Green Energy Co., Ltd., said that this project is the first 100 MW photovoltaic power plant project in Botswana, which can effectively guarantee the power demand of the country’s economic development.

Lan Yuqiang, Counsellor in charge of economic affairs of the Chinese Embassy in Botswana, said that China was willing to share the experience of green energy development with Botswana and encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in new energy industry in Botswana.
