The freight volume of the Western Land Sea New Corridor has reached a new historical high for the same period

On August 2nd, it was learned from China Railway Nanning Bureau that as of that day, the transportation of goods by rail sea intermodal trains on the Western Land Sea New Channel has exceeded 500000 TEUs this year, the highest level in history for the same period.

On that day, it was also the 5th anniversary of the implementation of the Overall Plan for the Western Land Sea New Corridor. Over the past 5 years, the railway sea intermodal trains of the Western Land Sea New Corridor have transported more than 3.1 million TEUs of goods, forming a stable golden logistics channel that runs through the southwestern region of China.

In the past five years, the main railway lines of Guangxi’s outbound channels such as Liqin, Nanfang, and Qinbei have all been electrified, and the main port areas in Beibu Gulf have achieved full coverage of inbound railways, opening up the “last mile” of rail sea intermodal transportation. The reduction in freight transportation time by nearly 20% and the increase in transportation capacity by 6.5% have been achieved. The “friend circle” of the Western Land Sea New Corridor rail sea intermodal train has expanded from 14 provinces in China to 18 provinces, and the flow of goods has increased from 190 ports in 90 countries and regions worldwide to 518 ports in 124 countries and regions worldwide. The transportation of container goods has grown from 94000 TEUs in 2019 to 861000 TEUs in 2023, an increase of 8.16 times.

Currently, the construction of the Huangbai Railway, a landmark project of the Western Land Sea New Corridor, is in full swing; The key projects of the Chongzuo to Pingxiang section of the Nanping high-speed railway, which connects directly to the border cities between China and Vietnam, have been basically completed and are expected to be completed and opened to traffic next year. According to the plan, by 2025, the economic, efficient, convenient, green, and safe Western Land Sea New Corridor will be basically completed.
