The elevated bridge girder of Colombo Port in Sri Lanka has been fully connected

Colombo, July 26 (Xinhua) — The ceremony for the complete completion of the elevated bridge girder at Colombo Port in Sri Lanka was held on the 25th, marking the final critical sprint stage of the project implementation.

The Colombo Port Viaduct Project was implemented by China Civil Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and started construction in September 2019. According to the project leader, the total length of the elevated bridge line is 5.27 kilometers, with a two-way four lane design and a designed speed of 80 kilometers per hour. This project is the first elevated bridge project in Sri Lanka to be constructed using the suspended segment technology. It is designed and manufactured according to Chinese standards and is at the international advanced level.

The Minister of Highways of Sri Lanka and representatives of Chinese property owners attended the ceremony.
