Thai Lao cross-border railway passenger trains start trial operation

Bangkok, July 13 (Xinhua) — The cross-border railway passenger train connecting Thailand and Laos began trial operation on the 12th. The opening of this line will improve the railway transportation between Thailand and Laos, and will also connect the China Laos railway, promoting trade, logistics and personnel exchanges between Thailand, Laos and China.

According to the information from the State Railway of Thailand, the cross-border railway passenger train between Thailand and Laos departs from Abhidharma Central Station in Bangkok, Thailand, exits through the Langkai Port in Thailand, and arrives at Kansawah Station in Vientiane, Laos, with a travel time of about 10 hours.

Ekala, Director of the Office of the Director General of the State Railway of Thailand, introduced that the opening of cross-border railway passenger trains between Thailand and Laos will improve railway transportation between the two countries, promote border trade between Thailand and Laos, and promote cooperation between Thailand and neighboring countries in economy, trade, and tourism.

It is reported that the cross-border railway passenger train between Thailand and Laos will officially start operating on July 19th.
