BYD Thailand factory completed and put into operation

On July 5th, Rayong, Thailand, Xinhua News Agency reported that BYD’s Thailand factory was officially completed and put into operation on the 4th. At the same time, BYD’s 8 millionth new energy vehicle was also rolled off the production line at the Thailand factory.

At the commissioning ceremony, Thai Minister of Industry Binpada Weichaigong said that BYD’s investment in Thailand and the introduction of advanced automotive production technology will promote the development of the new energy vehicle industry in Thailand and even in ASEAN.

BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu said at the ceremony that in the future, BYD will launch more pure electric models in Thailand and introduce plug-in hybrid models to help transform and upgrade the Thai automotive industry chain.

The BYD Thailand factory is located in Rayong Province, Thailand, with an annual production capacity of approximately 150000 vehicles, including four major processes and component factories for the entire vehicle. Thailand is an important automobile producing country in Southeast Asia, and the Thai government plans to increase the country’s electric vehicle production to 30% of the total automobile production by 2030.

Besides Thailand, BYD also has passenger car production bases in countries such as Brazil, Hungary, and Uzbekistan.
