The first interplanetary scintillation monitoring telescope in China has been officially completed

The IPS telescope was independently developed in China and is the first radio telescope specifically designed for observing interplanetary scintillation.

On May 10th, the “Space Environment and Foundation Comprehensive Monitoring Network”, a major national science and technology infrastructure during the 13th Five Year Plan period, was one of the major equipment in the second phase of the Ziwu Project——

IPS telescope, independently developed by China, is the first radio telescope specially used for interplanetary scintillation observation in China. It is led by the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and co built by China Electronics Technology Group Corporation.

The IPS telescope adopts a collaborative measurement method of one main station and two auxiliary stations, namely Mingantu main station, Yihe Gaole auxiliary station, and Urgen Tara auxiliary station in Xilingol League, Inner Mongolia. The pairwise connections between the three stations approximately form an equilateral triangle, with a distance of approximately 200 kilometers between the stations. The IPS telescope main station has

The IPS telescope system is based on a hybrid design of East West mechanical scanning and South North electrical scanning, using phased array feed digital multi beam reception technology to achieve continuous coverage of a wide field of view and large sky areas. The project construction team has made a breakthrough

This process test shows that the IPS telescope has the ability to continuously detect interplanetary scintillation signals, and all technical indicators of one main station and two auxiliary stations meet or exceed the preliminary design requirements. The passing of this process test means that the IPS telescope will be officially put into use to generate the necessary scientific data. It will be internationally recognized in this field
